Gauss's Law

Flux of a Uniform Electric Field

A constant electric field of magnitude E0 points in the direction of the positive z-axis (Figure 6.9).
(a) What is the electric flux through a rectangle with sides a and b in the xy-plane?
(b) What is the electric flux through a rectangle with sides a and b in the xz-plane?

Electric Flux through a Plane, Integral Method

A uniform electric field E of magnitude [E] N/C is directed parallel to the yz-plane at [θ]° above the xy-plane, as shown in Figure. What is the electric flux through the plane surface of the area [A] m2 located in the xz-plane? Assume that normal vectors n points in the positive y-direction.

What is the total flux of electric field E through the rectangular surface shown in the figure?
The magnitude of the electric field is described by the expression: |E| = [c] N C-1 m-2  y2. The direction of the electric field is the direction of the axis z. The sides of the rectangular surface are formed by the x and y axes of the coordinate system. One vertex of the rectangular surface is located at the origin, the opposite vertex located at the position x = [b] m, y = [a] m.
